Well Mark on these old crummy, ancient VW engines that people are struggling by with while the buy Mag Wheels, Brush Bar bumpers and install on board Computers with TV screens I'd say just cut a length of broom stick and use it for a lifter. I think we all know that it is common practice to replace one or two bad lifters if they just can't be salvaged any other way. I've found that my length of broomstick will last about 5 to 6,000 miles and doesn't farther damage the cam.
