Hey Chris If you run down the tach signal on the flexible circuit board and cut the tach signal to the dynamic "L" relay in the Speedo then that relay will not know that it ever reaches two thousand RPM. Just be sure to cut at the right spot or you will disable your tach. As well. I have done many of these on all type's of VW's, it was common practice at the dealership (right or wrong) it fixed a lot of vehicles that people were throwing relay's and oil pumps at. Never saw any that really had any bearing problems before or after this fix All the years I worked on VW's I never saw any bearing problems except the one's that were run out of oil constantly.
