SYNCRO de MAYO is only weeks away, May 29, 30, 31 and June 1.

DEADLINE: In order to ensure that you get a campsite and that you have a place at the BBQ dinner on Sat. evening, you must send in your registration by MAY 15th. Register now! http://www.syncro.org/Hollisterregistration.html

Early registrants get preference in campsite allotment. Late registrants will be accommodated, but will get the least desirable camp sites, and may have to beg for food at the BBQ dinner. The good sites will be reserved for those who register by the deadline. (BTW, families with children will occupy the northern portion of the campground, under the tall trees, where an area will be roped off as a shady play/kids area.)

A half dozen of us or so will be arriving wed. evening the 28th to begin setting up.

Based on past years' experience, it is ideal if you can travel, arrive and set up on Thursday. This allows all day Friday and all day Saturday to be enjoyed doing all the things there are to do at a more relaxed pace. Most people like to leave late morning or early afternoon on Sunday, especially those with long drives. And one day (Saturday) simply is not enough time to fit everything in. If you can't make it Thursday, do try to arrive early Friday. You will be glad you did.

We will definitely be doing some 4WD exploring on Thursday, mapping out the trails and taking in the scenery, with dinner in town that evening. Friday and Saturday will be full days, including a visit to a local winery. Saturday night will be the climax, with the BBQ dinner, awards ceremony and campfire, although there are campfires every night.

Spaten Beer is an event sponsor again this year and thus the Spaten VW Bus will be making a repeat appearance, full of goodies. However, it was requested that the van not be used as a smoking lounge for those funny smelling cigarettes this year ... as it appears to have been last year. After all, there are plenty of other places to engage in such shocking behavior, out of sight. What would John Ashcroft say!

Please bring two pieces of firewood for the group fires.

If you have a kids pool, or slippery slide, or water sprinkler you can bring, please let me know.

Bring any parts you may want to sell as there will be an swap meet area.

Overland contacted me about displaying a TDI and another conversion van, but I have not heard back yet, probably because I asked them to donate something for the awards ceremony!

There are two additional showers at the campground this year. There is also a permanent BBQ pit and some other improvements.

Peter will be bringing a PA system. I am hoping we will have the video set up again, although I have not gotten a commitment on that yet. I again encourage all musicians to bring their instruments for the campfires.

2WD VW vans are welcome to send in registrations now. There are many trails a 2WD can traverse easily, and there will be plenty of syncros to rescue you if needed.

More later.....
