I bought my 89 syncro westy with (believe it or not) 38,500 original miles
on the clock. put in straight synthetic in the engine at that time. ran
smooth as silk and did not leak. however used more oil than before. no
visible burning from the exhaust. switched to a dino/synth blend shortly
thereafter. does not leak or use oil now and still seems to run very
smoothly. nice compromise for thos who have problems with synthetic oils,
but like the advantages. the blends are a little cheaper too. btw, now
have almost 67K on her.
