Stan,
I think it's the contamination that makes
synthetics need to be changed in cars. They are
alot less careful with many tolerances in cars
than planes since cars fail and just pull over
but planes fail and crash. I didn't mind a few
drips in my Jetta, I'm used to them, but when I
saw oil in the coolant I got scared and went back
to normal oil. Consumer Reports tested all types
of engine oils, including synthetics, and with
changes at about every 6000 miles could find no
significant difference in any of the oils. They
recommened buying on price as long as it was a
known maker and it had the correct API service
rating (SF,SG and so on) called out by ones
manufacturer. If you meant nasty as in something
I said please excuse me, I didn't mean to offend
anyone.
