Long Enterprises has the pinion nut socket for $100 US and a rebuild kit for about the same price. Pinion Bearings and other parts and tools too. I haven't ordered a pinion nut socket yet. Price is a bit hard to swallow for something that gets used so little. I need to test my efforts at fabricating something this weekend before I write the cheque.

Hi Volks,

Does any one know where I can buy the tools for rebuilding Vanagon transmissions? In particular I am looking for the socket for taking the nut of the pinion gear. Also any Idea where I can buy the parts required for a rebuild? Other than at the dealer!

Cheers Glen
