I've never heard of or read about plastic washers associated with the oil
cooler, and certainly have never seen them in any engine I've torn down.
What manual are you talking about??

The ETKA specifies the following hardware to hold the oil cooler in place:

Washer             A6, 4x12,5x1,6
Spring washer    B6x12x0,5
Hex Nut             M6
