Subject: Brake warning light
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

Volks,

The brake warning light [on the dash over your left knee] stays on when my 84 Westy is cranked. Two things turn this light on. One is the park brake being deployed and the other is a brake system sensor that is powered by alternator current only.

My park brake switch is working OK. What I need to know is:

Where is the brake system sensor?

How do I test this thing to see if I really have a brake problem?

Is there something in the system that I can reset to make the light go out?

What is usually wrong if the sensor is really reporting a problem?

My brakes seem to stop just fine--I really need some help on this one.

Thanks in advance,

John Houser, Jr. Perry, GA
