Subject: 88 Temp gauge problems
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

Hi all, I am having a problem with my temp gauge and am hoping for some insight. I drive an hour to work each way. It seems to work fine for about the first 45 minutes. Then it just drops off to the lowest line (cool). Not all the way down where it would be if it was turned off, but not an actual reading. Sometimes it works good all the time. It seems to just get so hot, then it just drops off. After I stop, shut it off, and it cools a bit, it works fine again. I am not too sure what the problem is. About a year ago, I had a sensor that lives right next to the themostat replaced. I am not sure if that is the one that controls the gauge on the instrument panel or not. Oh, and by the way, I have checked the coolant level and it is fine. Does not seem to be getting TOO hot either. All I know is it's a Vanagon, and running without knowing how hot it is, is really not a good thing. So, I want to get this resolved as soon as I can. Thanks in advance for all the help.
