Subject: Vibrations after clutch replacement...........
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

Listies, I just did my first clutch replacement on my 85 Westy and it all seemed to go pretty well. Only problem is now that it's back in there is a vibration in the drive train that wasn't there before. It's more obvious when under a load especially in third and forth gears. I put in 3.2 quarts of the correct gear oil as was stated in the Bentley. But I've also seen 3.7 qts. as the capacity also. Regardless, I pulled out the filler plug and it appeared that the level was about 1 inch below the fill hole. Since then I've added one more quart and the oil still hasn't overflowed out the hole. Is/Could this be the only cause for the vibes? Tomorrow when the local FLAPS opens I'll get another quart and top it off and see if that makes a difference. But I can't imagine how it could. Any insight to this dilemma will be greatly appreciated. One other thing, I did drive the van around 120 miles with the gear oil low. Could this have caused any damage? Thanx and good evening to all of you on the left coast and good night to those on the right,
