I grew up in the Midwest (Columbus Ohio) and have resided in Arizona (Tempe) for some time. I would change Stephens recommendation to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon.

Although the South rim offers fantastic views, the North Rim is by far less traveled. You will be wondering where all the tourist came from if you go to the South Rim.

Don't get me wrong... it is still negotiable, but the South Rim is a *VERY* busy place.

I get up there about 1-2 times a yr.
