Subject: Redid side mirrors and tinted windows...
Content-type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

Hi Folks,

Well, I finally got tired of looking into my heated side mirror and seeing all that corrosion on the mirror so I ordered some replacements from a local glass company. Sure, wrong size (for standard mirrors) so I returned them and took a chance on removing the glass from my existing mirror from the plastic back panel. I used a long, thin, sharp putty knife and successfully pried it apart from the adhesive backing which is was then stuck to a metal plate backing. The trick is to stay on the side nearest the mirror.

I gave the glass company the mirror to use as a template. Pick it up in a few days. Only doing driver side now because I do not want to lose the extended view I have with the passenger side mirror. Need to figure out what to do there. Corrosion is not bad at all right now on that side. Any ideas out there??? I was thinking of buying a larger extended view mirror and having it cut down to size to fit...

Also, put in a new windshield last week with a tinted band across the top. Hides all the air conditioning and sun visor stuff...looks clean.

Next its tinted windows all around in a few weeks. I will need to pull the side windows out (minor body work). Anyone have experience dismantling the side sliders in order to tint? The glass guy seemed a little afraid as I was inquiring about actually replacing these flat windows with tinted etched glass. He said he did not want to touch it.

Hey, summers here..

Lee
