I had a cruddy old tan canvas with torn sides, so I cut out the sides and sewed in screens, then dyed the whole thing orange in my sink. It turned out well, and I would recommend it. But I used the good dye you get from an art supply store, along with Soda Ash as recommended. Don't know if RIT would be as good. Someone else told me that dying it would disable the waterproofing, but I didn't care since the screen windows were always open now... Plus there are some spray-on waterproof products out there.

For the interior of the top I would recommend 3M spray-glue and new fabric.
