I must advise against spending any money on a Chilton or Motors or Mitchel manual for any Euro mark. They are US experts and out of their area of expertise with any Euro mark. The Bentley and Haynes and this list will give you better than 99% coverage for anything you need to know. AutoData publishes a Euro systems manual which includes late 80's on Vanagon info. It is superb for step by step ignition and fuel injection diagnostic procedures. Great diagrams and very thorough information. But it is just like the Bentley, skip one step and it's value can be completely lost to a goose chase.
