More good news. The generous and meticulous Gary Lee, owner of Vanagonrack, http://www.telusplanet.net/public/gary2a/rack/vanagonrack.htm and designer/creator of his many custom built roof racks, hatch racks, ladders, carriers, etc, all made exclusively for the Vanagon, has contributed the following custom high performance one-of-a-kind syncro all cotton t-shirts as prizes to be given away at the awards ceremony. See them here: http://www.telusplanet.net/public/gary2a/rack/shirt/tshirt.htm

Thanks Gary!!!

I still have $100 donated by Seth of H&R Motors in Santa Barbara to spend on prizes, too. Seth runs one of the very few shops I would trust with my syncro. I know many of his customers and he is tops!

In addition to providing beverages for the event, Spaten is donating some prizes to be given away as well this year.

Don't worry about having to have a show van to win a prize. The biggest single prize is going to be awarded to a van most in need of that prize, and deserving of it. So will other prizes.

BTW, to my amazement, Syncro de Mayo is attracting pretty widespread attention. It is the only USA event listed on this site (not by me) http://www.vw-bus-land.de/termine/termine.html and has been a recent topic of discussion on mailing lists in Germany and Japan. It is also looking good for the New York Times story. The writer and photographer have just confirmed that they will be attending and, i am told, the editor seems to like the concept for the story, so it may very well get published. After the Washington Post did the piece on the Vanagon List, the Times has to do something!

Sorry for the second post. Gary's donation just came it.
