My '87 Syncro Westy had everything in place to just put the battery in, hook it up and go. It is wired to run the fridge and charges along with the main. I have it more for the purpose of a back up. My '91 Westy was wired this way and I never ran either battery out of juice using the interior lights, radio/cd, etc. just my $.02

I'm installing an Optima battery under the driver's seat. In theory, you could argue that with the proper isolation (not restarting relay vs. isolator debate here!!) the starter battery should be reserved only for starting, and the auxiliary battery powers everything else.

For those of you who've done this before, what loads have you moved to the auxiliary battery, and what were the wiring tricks you employed?
