Jere, "My pedal fades very very slowly" Does this mean the pedal goes to the floor? Does it stop the van? Does it feel soft? Does the emergency brake work well? "if your not loosing fluid anywhere" I am guessing that you did not take the drums off to look at the back brakes. It is a good idea to change your master cylinder from time to time but I would look at the rear wheel cyclinder next. If you have the cash buy a pair from bus depot and perhaps some new shoes for daddy since your are in there anyway. More than likely your rear brakes are out of adjustment. You might be lucky and can get by just by hand adjusting the shoes without pulling the drums but sooner or later you will need to pull the drums and fix the problem. Ignore the book about pulling the hubs. Just pull the drums and leave your big nuts alone. gary Date: Mon, 26 May 2003 21:36:31 -0700 From: Jere Hawn <jbrschawn@EARTHLINK.NET> Subject: Brake problem Hi All,
Can anyone provide some assistance on this brake problem?
My pedal fades very very slowly. So I change the master cylinder and I've bled the system from the furthest brake forward no change. I spoke with a local car mechanic and he said that the cups in the cylinder have reverses themselves because I did not bench bleed the new master cylinder. He couldn't explain why there was no change from the original master cylinder. I checked for leaks: none.
