I assume that you mean the crossmember that anchors the rear end of the fuel tank support plates on the 2WD. It needs to be trimmed in the center so the drive shaft will clear. Since the whole thing sticks down a little lower than in a Syncro I first trimmed it all the way across. Then I made the clearance area for the driveshaft. Then I shaped some 1 1/2" wide 1/8" metal flat stock to that whole lower edge and welded it in. Since my 83 had come with the older metal long cooling pipes I also enlarged the hole in the crossmember to allow the larger plastic Syncro pipes to be used.
