Does the fridge rely on gravity or why does it have to be level? Is overheating the concern?

I bypassed the thermostat and it cooled just fine on max output (120V). The electrical thermostat is connected only to the 110V circuit, on 12V it's bypassed by default. I suppose on 12V the output is so low, no one would want to limit it further. And the cooling fan in the back only works on 12V. Joachim
