Subject: Help! Fuel leak above transmission
Content-type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII

This morning while driving my daughter to school, our '88 Westy developed a major fuel leak just as I pulled into the parking lot. I smelled gas, and saw a trail of fuel where I backed up. It does not leak with the key on, engine stopped, only when the engine running, but then pours out and drips from several places on transmission. I assume this means there is a high pressure line leading from one side of the engine to the other, or perhaps a "T" above the transmission? I would have expected it to leak as soon as I turned the key and the fuel pump made pressure, but it doesn't seem to start until the engine is running.

My question is: how many different sizes of hose are used in the fuel system from the fuel pump back to the injectors? I bought some hose a few years ago to replace the injector lines and found it was the wrong size, so I never did it. I guess now is the time to replace them all...

ps: Please cc: <swright@sls.bc.ca> if possible, as I won't be able to check my list mail until tonight, and need to rescue my van asap! (It's only 5 minutes from home, but has no vent window, and it might rain...)

Thanks! -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Shawn Wright, I.T. Manager Shawnigan Lake School http://www.sls.bc.ca swright@sls.bc.ca "Friends don't let friends use Outlook."
