For me, it was on a rectangular orange sticker in the engine compartment, about 3x5" in size. I have also seem metallic white stickers, too.

This is a good point about saying you are moving to the United States. VW said flat out that they did not want to participate in cross border sales.

Does anyone know where I would find my "Engine Family Number" you need this to apply for the Certificate of Conformance.
