I've exercised some thoughts on a fuel pressure gauge.
The things that Vanagon owners need to monitor is just the things that
will kill your Vanagon, such as oil temp, oil pressure and Cylinder head
temp for Air Cooled.
The fuel pumps exhibit an extremely long life and are maintenance free
other than the replacement of fuel filters.
I'm of the opinion that the gauge would just be another worry some thing
to distract you from driving.
However if it is your desire to have one you should be able to use just
about any oil pressure sender that is made as a gauge sending unit. I'd
say match it to the oil sender you are using and just install a toggle
switch to select between the oil pressure mode and the fuel pressure
mode.
I have found that my fuel pump pressure had not diminished over five
years of use.
