i think you will have to drop the tank, but the good
news is that is an easy thing to do compared to other
Vanagon repairs. i had to jack up the front end but
you might not have to. The Hardest part is attaching
all the new expansion tank lines once i got the tank
back in/up(i bought a gas tank seal kit from Ken
Wilfy/vanagain.com) I think you might want a brand new
tank OR you could do what i did using a gas tank
sealer kit from the POR-15 guys. it takes a few days
for the stuff to dry so be prepared. Overall i really
liked the results, did it a year ago and my filter is
still pretty clean. i took photos of the sealing
process, i can email them to you if needed. Company
called "clifford"? makes the same kit for cheaper.
Dont buy a cheap gas tank becouse they are painted
cheaply and the inner paint will come off and clog
your filter and will start rusting soon after. Only
German/South Afro will do from what if heard but thats
alot of $$ plus shipping the bear.
Good Luck!
