Subject: Info on amc heads
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

I am in the process of assessing what I need to do the heads on my 86 GL. On inspection it seem that the heads have amc stamped/cased in. I am assuming that these have been replaced with amc brand. Question-are these going to be reusable or should be replaced. I remember coming across some info questioning the quality of these heads I am trying to keep the suprises to a minimum so that I can do the job in a weekend.

The usual reasons for doing the heads. Combustion pressurizing the cooling system, small leak at the bottom front corners of the heads. Compression test shows 105,110,125,120. Going to do the leak down test this weekend.

Would appreciate any opion ,prayers. money ....; ) My the vanagon gods be kind
