Hey Jesse - Last time I checked - Walmart has a good deal on a Coleman 40 qt electric cooler [ $67 ]. I bought two last summer and they work fairly well. Very helpful camping - the westy fridge is a little small and I can run an extension cord with the cooler anywhere on the campsite. I just load them up in the kitchen the night before a camping trip and plug them in over night. When I am ready to leave I put them in the van and plug them in.

I do not think you will find a 12volt range. 12v is not enough juice to really heat things up.

If you are interested in cooking - you may want to look at

"Manifold Destiny" - cooking on your car engine.

[ I have not tried this on a waterboxer yet :O) ]

Before you go spending alot of extra money for the "12 volt" version

you may wanna look at the cost of an inverter + the regular version of

an appliance you already have. You'll find it is probably cheaper

and probably works better.

[OF course you may want to look at a Aux battery! ]

Hey all,

I'm in search of some nifty things to add to the vanagon for long road tripping.

Anyone have some good suggestions for twelve volt portable ranges and small 12 volt freezers?

Suggestions for great sites to visit across the country would be sweet too.
