I took out all the AC stuff out of my '86 Westy. As far as I know, you will only help things (less weight, more room to work, etc.).

I forget what you have - an '85 non-Westy? We talked about your seat last week.

I even pulled the hoses going to the front radiator out from under the van. I bet it was 50-60 pounds of junk total. I just cut and taped up the wiring harness (in case some of it got energized somehow). In my case, I was even able to convert the overhead space where the fan and other stuff was into a storage spot.

As far as I could tell, none of the wiring affects anything else. Probably a good idea to pull whatever fuse powers it as another safety measure. Hey, you could get creative and wire up a little 12V interior light that you could control with the AC switch from the dash. I may yet hook something like that up.

I gave away all my parts to a friend, but I see people getting decent prices for that stuff. It sure ain't cheap new.

good luck,

Steve Gough Carbondale
