In the quest for a tire that fits all the requirements of the vanagon (in my case 205/70 r14 97R) I have tried bigger rims (audi A6) with a lower profile tire to attain same circumfrence. and I have tried big Ol' 14" truck tires (BF Goodrich all terrain TA) on my syncro. But I have yet to find a tire, till last week, that really gave me the ride that I want for less than a house payment. I have been working with my local tire wholesaler and he and I decided to try a 215/70 R14 96S. this tire is a Lite truck tire with reinforced side walls and it is not gonna take your summer vwacation $$ and they can hold the proper air pressure. 30 front and 40 rear so you still have some fuel left. the nice thing about these tires is that they fill the wheel wells and look really proper, and I am able to keep my nice and simple alloys. Hope that this helps some IN SEARCH OF... Chris VT 91 westy 87 westy syncro |
