Scott, "The company" consists of John D. Bigelow. I met him last summer while looking for a Vanagon. He is a nice guy (aren't all car salesmen?) and has been in the car sales business for over 15 years. He has a small warehouse space where he sells mostly European imports, and a number of Westys and Eurovan campers. The Vanagons he has for sale are top notch. He finds solid vans, buys them, cleans them up and fixs any problems, then sells them for top dollar. You don't stay in this business for very long unless you know what you are doing and have ethics and integrity, so I think he will not jerk you around. I tried to haggle with him on a less then stellar Weekender, and he would not budge from his asking price of $6900, he is in the business of making money after all. My overall impression of JDB is good. I think you will get a very nice Westy from him, I just think his prices a little too high. FWIW, he does not deal with any non-pop-top Vanagons, which is what I was really looking for. For the prices he is asking, everything should work correctly, and the overall condition of the Vanagon should be excellent. You did not say where you live in your email. I am assuming you do not live in the Denver area. If you have your eye on a specific van in his inventory, I would be willing to go check it out for you, take pictures, and give you an idea of what kind of condition it is in. I am mechanically inclined, and learning all I can about the WBX Vanagon, so I do know what to look for. I know own 2 Wolfys myself, and know my way around them. I work in downtown Denver, and I can go over to his warehouse over my lunch hour, or Friday afternoons. He usually only shows cars by appointment, so I will need a little lead time. Let me know if I can be of further assistance.
