Two tools that will make front end work a dream are: a Pitman arm puller and a tie rod end puller. They get the tie rods ends and upper and lower ball joints out with NO struggle... Once the lower arm is free have a shop press in new lower ball joints and put it back together. Ball joint forks are a hit or miss solution, they might work for some but others they just make matters worse. Just buy or rent the two tools and it makes getting joints out of the spindle real easy. Did I say it makes it real easy? Get them from your local FLAPS...
