I'll put in one more thing (that I should have said in my response.) A conversion (of any type) is not for everyone. Just as one computer does not fit everyone. Each vehicle and each driver/owner is a unique situation and deserves to be treated as such.

I person that has a working knowledge of internal combustion engines and can service them is probably a reasonable candidate to consider a conversion, but not always. I have friends that are quite knowledgable and wouldn't (and shouldn't) touch a mechanical device with any intention of servicing it (hardware problem.) I'll let them reprogram the ROM, but keep them away from the nuts and screws.

On the other paw, there are folks that just dont' want to deal with the mechanics at all. They aren't likely to be good conversion candidates. But they could be if they had access to a good mechanic.

As I mentioned in the beginning, each case is unique, so you have to gather the appropriate information and make an informed decision on your own.
