Subject: Ball joints - Pickle Fork?
Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII

OK, I've got my tire off, the large nut off the ball joint and the two hex nuts are also off. I rented a pickle fork from autozone.

The problem:

I hammered away at the pickle fork and it succeeded in loosening the ball from the joint instead of separating the lower part of the joint from the control arm.

Now, when I hammer away at the pickle fork, I just loosen the ball part of the joint even more until the pickle fork bottoms out. I've tried hammering away at the pickle fork to no avail. A larger pickle fork would do the trick, but aren't these things one size fits all? I need some suggestions.

I suppose if I can't get this thing out then I'll be stuck throwing some money at the shop down the street.

Thanks for any help! Blake St Louis 84 Westy
