With the many Chinese products coming into our country it is difficult to find some products American made. Something simple like a paint scraper, screwdriver, saber saw blade etc. These products are sold under the "Chinese Warranty" policy which amounts to this: The product is so cheaply made that it prematurely fails, no mater how many you purchase the next one fails early too. The warrant consist of "It only cost a few dollars and you accept it a disposable and never ask for a warranty or a free replacement". At the friendly Ace is The Place store I have returned, Lawn Sprinklers (Rain King, US name made in China). Stanley screw drivers (American Name made in China), Imperial Eastman brass fittings (American Name made in China) and the list goes on long enough that they now know my name very well at the Ace Hardware. My next return item is going to be a Delta Faucet repair kit with defective soft rubber seals (American Name made in China). One of my favorite return items is Halogen High Intensity light bulbs that fail. The card they are on say a 1600 hour bulb ............... most fail within two weeks and its very hard to crowd 1600 hours into two US Weeks. My next most favorite return item is a 1/2" to 3/8" rachet reducer coupler .......... they are a one use item in my tool box. I save the receipts for everything and the cards / boxes / envelopes they come on, same for every computer part or rebate that I mail in. I hammer the rebates and I get 90% or more of them paid. If I can't buy American Products or at least a quality counterpart from Taiwan. Japan, Brazil, Mexico I have to buy the Chinese but I don't have to take a screwing. If I can't get the world to boycott them I can at least put my name on the computer at the vendor that is selling their low quality products. If a Chinese made gate operator or garage door kills one of your children by crushing them to death because of a mal function or manufacturing flaw and you go looking to recover your medical and funeral expenses you'll realize that this isn't just the ravings of a madman. (I imported Chinese gate operators until I found that they had a disclaimer for everything and I was the responsible party because I sold the product. Yes! Gloria; There are Chinese Attorneys.) It might not be your child that gets injured it might be you getting blinded by hitting a Chinese pickle fort on your next Vanagon repair job. A chip flys off and you loose an eye .............. too bad buddy. So fellows if it has a Chinese Warranty .............. buyer beware.
