Have you tried contacting Peter B at TiiCo or Jon at Foreign Auto? Has your mechanic spoken to either of them?

...you and/or they should... both in regards to sourcing parts as well as getting your motor set up correctly. It's become somewhat clear as of late that a lot of the timing/mixture problems are the result of improper setup. In spite of the setup being done by experienced mechanics...

So... contact TiiCo...

If I haven't made that painfully clear... let me answer your actual question...

The ONLY source for most "South African" parts is Peter at TiiCo or Jon at Foreign Auto.

It sounds like the part your referring to is the duo sensor which is, I believe, a unique part to the motor and you won't find at any VW dealers in the US. Matthew Pollard has been trying to source them on his own for quite some time (still without success as far as I know).

That said, chances are that you don't need to replace it, but rather just clean it. Details on cleaning it are available on the TiiCo web-site. I didn't believe it would help my problems, but amazingly enough my hesitation coming off idle went away after cleaning the duo sensor... sometime things work in spite of not believing in them.

Good Luck, Jon
