I had a look at the W8 engine in a Passat yesterday. Man is that thing ever shoehorned in there. The cooling fan is literally less than 2.5 inches from the pulleys and serpentine belts. The battery lives up under the leaf-guard plastic where I'd assume the wiper motors are (Not that you can see anything in there). The shiny aluminum intake manifold top pretty much fills out the exact proportions of the underside of the hood. It sure sounded purdy idling and reving. Whomever is the first to successfully transplant one of these into a vanagon will be my idol until someone gets a W12 into one. Have a good Friday and weekend, everyone.
