Subject: Re: Insuring 1982 Westy as an RV ?

Over the years I've had motor homes, VW campers and bought camper chasis and built special application vehicles on the chasis. In other words I know what a motor home is. My VW Title says Camper on it. I've never slipped through the cracks and gotten RV status insurance. The other 1400 people on the list haven't been able to slip through the cracks either. The VIN number tells it all when they go to rate vehicles for insurance. There have been times when insurance agents asked how many miles do you drive each year. I've always tried to be honest, with the thought in mind that there were other factors involved other than just premiums. I've had legitimate motor homes and added them for as little as $75.00 a year to existing policies with three other cars. My liability only insurance on my Westy was only $268.00 a year. Clearly $5,000.00 in property damage, $20,000.00 in personal injury was never enough to get me out of the woods and protect me from a lawsuit. The fact that you have achieved RV status with your VW Van indicates that you've slipped through a loophole somewhere. Either by misleading your agent or falsifying a statement on your Insurance application form. You have given your insurance carrier an escpae route. Encouraging other people to do the same thing is imoral and unethical. *********** I find your comments rude ........... Stan: Correct, it isn't an RV and you know it. *********** not to mention childish and idiotic ........... Stan: Correct, I find humor in your LOOK at ME "I beat the system attitude".
