It can't hurt to give http://consumerreports.org/ a try... ~Rich -----Original Message----- From: Vanagon Mailing List [mailto:vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com] On Behalf Of Stan Wilder Sent: Friday, June 13, 2003 9:30 AM To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Subject: [VANAGON] Friday Liberties
I'm in a spot here where I need to buy a full sized Chevy, Dodge or Ford van to mount a wheel chair lift. The lift will fit almost any van including a Vanagon (Need dependable A/C) so Vanagon is out. The only restrictions are headroom and a sliding door to allow the lift to swing out. As time and circumstances prevail I can make this transition upon the renewal of my Auto Insurance and sell my 92 Police Package Crown Victoria that demands about $800.00 extra in premiums each year. I'm searching for a site that will rate various Vans based on dependability and disclose known week points. Since many Lemons survive in spite of their many flaws I'm hoping to avoid buying one. I've researched the Recall site at DOT but it list only safety recalls and tech bulletins and doesn't give a true picture of dependability. Does anyone know of a site that has more specific dependability ratings?
