I own a Vanagon Westfalia w/ a blown engine. My mechanic says that I am running rich and that my cylinder walls have been flooded with gas and causing the rings not to seat, resulting in loss of compression. He wants to try to adjust the valves to try and bring back compression. I am already looking ahead to doing an inline four cylinder vw engine conversion. I already have the diesel engine carrier and motor mounts, diesel oil pan and oil pump. I was not able to get the diesel flywheel, clutch pressure plate and disc off the van. The thing was already stripped down alot before I got to it. I was able to find the list of parts that I need to get from the next diesel that I find. I think it should be possible to do this conversion with most (or maybe all) parts found in the junkyard. I live in the Inland Empire area of Southern California. i would love to find someone locally who done the conversion or someone who is thinking about doing it soon.
