I bet you're right Mark. And, different versions for the same years, different due to mid-year changes?? My '87 Syncro Westy has the extra stalk below the turn signal stalk. Works with magnets on the L/inside CV. My '91 Westy had the integrated t/signal and cruise. This "magnetized" application is simple, reliable, uncomplicated, and so far, works. But then, I didn't have any problems with the newer speedo-style one on my '91.

Hi Bob, What year Vanagon are you dealing with. I have been giving out info about the '86 and '87s that I have, and they have the speed sensor in the speedometer. Maybe there are different versions for different years.
