Hi,

While we're on the safety topic - I thought I'd pass today's experience along...

We were headed back home today, doing about 65 and I noticed a 'new' vibration. I pulled off at the next exit and did the once around - and didn't notice anything unusual. BUT I dropped my speed down to 55 - eventually the vibration started getting worse. I turned to my wife and said, "You feel that? That's a tire that's about to go... " So, I pulled off the next exit, and proceeded at about 45 mph, then dropped my speed as the tired deteriorated until finally the tread separated on me doing about 30 (or less).

Earlier in the day, we passed a Jeep Grand Cherokee on a flat bed whose owner didn't do that - and it appeared that they had lost their life(s) as a result of not paying attention to that noise.

That said - I need to get a 6x6 piece of heavy steel to use as a pad for the tire jack. The jack sunk down about a foot twice before resorting to using both my battery covers - and heavily customizing them in the process.

Conrad
