My wife and I took our Westie half way down Baja to Bahia de Los Angales and
I had a blast. She didn't have such a good time because she worries too much
about gas station locations and our lack of basic Spanish. Anyway, I'd do it
again in a heart beat (and I suspect she would too with a little persuading)
and hopefully make it all the way to the tip (ran out of time before). I
mentioned a trip like this to Larry Chase when we met who seemed interested
and I'll put it out there for the list as well, if there is any interest in
getting a bunch of busses and heading down and maybe coming back up the
mainland I'd be very much interested as well.

I Say:  I wish you had that engine condition too!  As far as I figure,
we would have had almost a day more of relaxation on the beach and at
camp had I not been stuck following your slooooow van up the Baja hills
and stopped for emergency road side repairs (he he).  You know I am
kidding you Ben - I would not change anything about the trip, broken
down on the beach in Carlsbad, or putting along in Mexico, I loved every
minute of it.  Good to know you're in tip-top shape again - Now you can
get back in a Vanagon ;-).  Let's go to Baja again - we still have 10
months left of insurance!

For those of you looking for a great trip in a Westy - I would highly
recommend Baja Mexico.  Great camping, wonderful scenery, and cheap food
and drink.  Write me for recommendations.
