Only the air cooled Vanagons have that switch. The WB's use the ignition pulse to keep the pump running.

I have to disagree with you. The AFM has a fuel pump micro switch in it at the zero vacuum position. If this switch isn't closed the ECU will not pump fuel. I'll send a picture if you want it.
