I got my genuine VW replacement radiator from a VW dealer with a discount and I think it went for about $400. It is aluminium and built by VW of South Africa. Great unit. The original radiator in my 83 bus was copper and pretty well clogged.

The good news is I think Ken at Vanagain www.vanagain.com has the same OEM genuine VW radiator for about 1/2 that price. Check with him if you do go that route to see if I am right and he does sell the genuine VW radiator or aftermarket and then make your decision. At the time I replaced mine I found out too late that Ken offered the same product for less.

The replacement I seem to remember was pretty straight forward. The old radiator drops out the bottom of the bus after a few bolts are removed and the new one slides up in the opposite way. See the Bentley manual for exact instructions.
