Subject: WTD 70's era Westy sliding door window,
and MV to GL window transplant ?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII; format=flowed

I'm back on the list after about 6 months of being VW'less having sold my 83 diesel westy, and having now just acquired a 93 Eurovan GL. i plan to add some custom camping features, the thing i miss the most is having no kind of ventilation in the rear area.

I've checked into installing MV style sliding windows into the door and drivers side. but... so far i am uncertain about the interior molding matching... issues. I've been told by Eurocampers that the window will fit. If there is any one on the list that has done such a transplant i'd like to discuss it with you.

I'm also considering just popping out the glass in the sliding door, making and reinstalling a fiberglass panel in the shape of the window, and installing a westfalia crank out window like is on the 70's era westies in an appropriate sized cut out.... If anyone has one or two of these style windows, ideally with screens... in good operating condition or knows a place to look for some, please let me know.

other interesting ideas will also be considered if anyone has any.

thanks, and good to be back on a GREAT DL !

Clay
