What causes these to keep going out?


My gauges worked fine...then I had head gasket redone and speedo cable.  All
of a sudden my gas and temp gauges didn't work.  Replaced with new voltage
stabilizer and they worked fine.


Then didn't use van for awhile and battery dead.  Jumped and started van but
gas and temp guage didn't work again.  Replaced voltage stabilizer again and
now gauges work again.


How can I prevent this part from going out again?  Is there any connection
to my dead battery or having replaced speedo cable or prehaps those are just
a concidence?
