I had a similar thing happen on one of mine.
 Being as it was already on a rack and I didn't like the banging noise that
I got everytime I went around a corner, I did what was convenient at the
time.  Held a suitable bolt where the threaded end used to be, fired up the
hot glue gun (read: Wire welder) and mounted it in the drag link with a
couple of shock absorber rubber pads and washers.  That was a few years ago
and I haven't thought about it since.  Saved me a bunch of money and
aggravation trying to get the top end off of the sway bar.

I usually don't cobble things together, but it was on a part that would have
to be replaced anyway if it didn't work.

Worked for me.
