Subject:      u joint for steering

my steering is very stiff and will not re-center. i put a new rack in a few
months ago. i have ordered the u-joint for the sterring is there any way that
it could break off and lose my steering . it going to take 2 weeks to ship it
over from Hanover to the USA since vw doesnt stock any in this country. cant
find aftermarket either. any opinions or comment would be great and tips on
putting it in thanks
