The O-Ring is famous for failure. It's right behind the heater valve with
the plastic handle on the left side of the heater. I'm thinking about that
unreachable right-side screw and I have seen ratcheted screwdrivers like a
small ratchet wrench with a screwdriver head. That would get in there.
For some good pictures of the heater disassembly and possible leak points

BTW the 91 heater cover is moulded plastic and looks like the heater needs
to be loose to remove the cover.

Hi John
My Westy is a 87. Maybe it is different. The cover is made of wood and cover
all the heater assembly (there are screw on each side and on the top). I
also noticed a small coolant leak on the lower pipe. I don't know where the
leak is coming from (the pipe or the heater). You where taking about an
O-ring. Maybe this is my problem also.
