I would like to get a GPS for extensive car travel and perhaps some short hikes. I don't have a laptop, would like to avoid getting one. Briefly looked at Larry Chase's RoadHaus system, but last I read he might have to purchase a new GPS to work with MS Streets/Trips 2003. Blah! (I still think PCs, software, now GPS, etc. incompatibility are part of a big plot to make us buy upgrades, more plugs, batteries, wires -An endless loop... ) However... My type of travel is often 1-2 months cross or around much of the US/Canada. Other somewhat more confined trips could be western Wash. Oregon; wandering from WA to the Southwest. I've read about the Garmin Streetpilot III Deluxe, while expensive, looks interesting, esp for the fact it can talk to you. I would like that feature when traveling through cities with much congestion. My concern is I don't know if I will need a laptop to load maps when I change areas of the country or if I would need to buy many memory devices at a huge cost. My mind is about to explode. Should I stick to AAA maps? Is there a reasonable and effective solution? Looking for experiences, advice, GPS/Laptop/Software suggestions. WoodyB
