I got a kitten many years back, and took him everywhere with me. Casey rode on my shoulder, except when dogs were present, then he rode on my head. He logged quite a few hours with me in a PA-28, and seemed quite fine with it. My airport ID photo had Casey on my shoulder -- didn't want anybody trying to throw him off the field. I kept him close, as he often came when I called, but still, he was a cat and I wasn't sure he wouldn't wander off. Casey just vanished one night, I hope he jumped into the car of a friendly stranger . . . I had an acquaintance at the time who flew with a pair of siamese cats, who would run for their cat carrier when they saw him packing for a flight. I've also known a number of boats that counted a cat amoungst ship's company. Even our old, old cat seems happier coming with us on the boat rather than staying home (though we don't get to do that too often), and we didn't start her young. I think you should definately try it. But do be prepared for a car sick cat. Doug -- Douglas L. Urner <dlu@canishe.com> Port Orchard, WA +1 360 769 5565 |
