I agree that the 'soft' white (more like dingy) color of the 12volt
Florescent Light is, well, not appealing for many. I find the Florescent ok
for over-all illumination of the cabin area while cooking and lounging. For
reading and detail work, the Halogens fit the bill... so to speak.  The
Halogens I installed have a rotating head so are quite adjustable where as
the Florescent is a fixed strip.
The second year following my install the Florescent light blew it's starting
circuit so did not work. Two weeks of camping without it, I missed the
overall glow of its 13 watt light! Upon replacing it..... holy...... let
there be light!
